The internship team consists of 6 team members working in the preparation phase: placing students at internship companies, within our school network. And also busy in the execution phase: supporting students while on internship. You work all together in close collaboration. Are you motivated to take the lead in the execution phase?As internship manager - execution phase, you do not have any direct reports and you work together with a self-steering team, all reporting to the head of internships.
For the internship semesters, our focus areas are:
- An easy, efficient and meaningful student journey.
- Reliable and professional partnerships with companies from the hospitality industry offering worldwide, quality internships.
- Consistent, fair and challenging coaching and evaluation by HMSM internship supervisors.
Going on internship is a very exciting and challenging time in our students’ lives. External factors as well as personal challenges often have an impact on a student’s experience.
This is why we are looking for a team player with a relevant background in hospitality leadership as well as a hands-on mindset, strong communication and coaching skills and a flexible and hospitable attitude.

You will be responsible for the execution phase of the internships (2nd and 4th year) ensuring quality in terms of placement and supervision. For this, you will need to manage a variety of stakeholders (ex. students, company mentors, internship school supervisors) while making sure to keep all internship related aspects within our curriculum into consideration and think forward for continuous improvement initiatives.
You need to have a close relation with the placement team, in order to support accordingly our students in their preparation journey, by providing workshops and organizing some key events, before they leave.
Important is also to safeguard the quality of the supervision through trainings and close communication with our school supervisors and as well optimize the role of the company mentors.
Finally, you will be yourself internship supervisor for few students so that you can put your coaching skills into action as well. You will have the possibility to visit them during the mid-term visit.
We prefer
You have at least a bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree is preferred, but if not obtained, then we look for someone willing to complete one. Hospitality leadership experience would be an advantage.
A global competence and an international mindset in combination with a good command of Dutch (at least B1) and English on the level of C1.

The focus of Hotel Management School Maastricht (HMSM) is the next step in hospitality. We offer a small-scale and intensive educational programme and therefore invest strongly in building and maintaining our academic and professional community of students, lecturers, support staff and alumni.
As part of our curriculum, our students complete an operational internship in their 2nd year as well as a management internship in their 4th year at HMSM. Both periods for 6 months and about 300 students per semester. We look for someone who can support them in their growth during these two semesters. Indeed, once our students start their internships all over the world, it is up to you (with the support of about 75 internship school supervisors) to ensure they have the best possible experience as well as a steep learning curve in line with our academic goals.

A warm welcome within the internship team of the Hotel Management School Maastricht which offers a challenging and dynamic environment, with often ad-hoc, allowing for alternations each week.
A position for a minimum of 0.8 FTE depending on your availability, in a salary scale awarded depending on your qualifications and experience at level 11, with a maximum of € 5,936,77 gross per month when appointed full-time. To this is added holiday allowance (8%) and a fixed year-end bonus (8.3%), a generous number of holidays, professionalization and employability hours and a complete offer to work vitally and with pleasure.
